Hi, Friends of Cocktails! The first cocktail on my channel is an Espresso Martini made with TEQUILA! Normally, Espresso Martinis are made with vodka, but I wanted to try something different with my friends at Rooster Rojo. Their Reposado Tequila is perfect for this cocktail because of its soft caramel and toffee notes.
We’ll also bring in some chocolate flavors with homemade chocolate bitters, Kahlúa for coffee, freshly brewed espresso, and a touch of agave syrup to sweeten things up. And yes, a pinch of Slovenian salt at the end to finish it off. Fresh espresso and high-quality coffee are key here — always use the best you can get, not just for Espresso Martinis, but for any coffee cocktail you make.
Tequila Espresso Martini:
· 45 ml - 1,5 oz Rooster Rojo Reposado Tequila
· 22,5 ml - 0,75 oz Kahlúa Coffee Liqueur
· 1 shot of Espresso
· 1 bar spoon Agave Syrup
· 2 dash Chocolate Bitters
· shake with ice and strain into a chilled martini glass
· Pinch of Salt Flowers on the top
We start by chilling our shaker with ice. While the shaker is cooling, pour in 45 milliliters (1.5 oz) of Rooster Rojo Reposado Tequila. This tequila is rested at least two months in oak barrels, giving it those toffee and caramel notes that pair so well with coffee. Add 22.5 milliliters (0.75 oz) of Kahlúa, or another coffee liqueur if you prefer.
Next, add a bar spoon of agave syrup and two dashes of homemade chocolate bitters. Pour in your fresh espresso, and make sure it’s freshly brewed — it makes all the difference. Give everything a quick quality control check, and then it’s time to shake. Drain the water from the ice in your shaker and shake vigorously until everything is well chilled and slightly frothy.
Strain the cocktail into a chilled martini glass, and finish with a pinch of Slovenian salt flowers on top. And that’s it — your Rooster Rojo Reposado Espresso Martini is ready.
This cocktail is a hell of a good one! The toffee, caramel, and chocolate notes all come forward beautifully, and if you’ve never tried an Espresso Martini made with tequila, you’re really missing out. Thank you for watching, and until next time, cheers, Friends of Cocktails!
