Hi, Friends of Cocktails! Today we’re making a Southside cocktail, but we’re going to make it a little fancy. I like to call this one the Fancy Southside.
We’re using GinRaw, a unique gin made in Barcelona by a team of four masters: a chef, a sommelier, a perfumer, and a mixologist. The gin is distilled at low temperatures, giving it a fresh and citrusy character that pairs beautifully with mint and lemon. To make our Southside extra special, we’ll be using a homemade mint syrup and clarified lemon juice. And of course, we’ll add a little saline solution to bring everything together.

Fancy Southside:
• 50 ml (1 2/3 oz) GinRaw gin
• 20 ml (2/3 oz) clarified lemon juice
• 20 ml (2/3 oz) mint syrup
• 2 drops of saline solution
Since we want to keep this cocktail clear and elegant, we’ll stir it instead of shaking it. Start by adding all the ingredients into your mixing glass with plenty of ice and stir gently to chill and dilute slightly.
Once it’s perfectly mixed, strain the Southside over a big, clear ice cube in a chilled glass. And don’t forget the mint—spank it first to release its aroma and place it so the drinker gets a noseful with every sip.
The first thing you’ll notice is the fresh, citrusy scent of mint on the nose. On the palate, the clarified lemon juice and gin shine through, while the mint lingers beautifully on the aftertaste. This cocktail is light, fresh, and has a wonderfully long, elegant finish.
If you’re celebrating World Gin Day or just in the mood for something bright and fancy, the Fancy Southside is a perfect choice. Cheers, Friends of Cocktails!
